What the Rusty Pilots Seminar Offers
The Rusty Pilots Seminar is part of AOPA’s nationwide program dedicated to helping aviators rejoin active flying. Throughout the session, attendees reviewed the latest FAA regulations, learned about changes in the National Airspace System, and revisited essential flight fundamentals such as weather forecasting, flight planning and weight and balance.
The goal was clear: to ensure that pilots returning to aviation are as prepared, knowledgeable, and confident as when they first earned their certificates.

A Presenter’s Perspective
In Bill Wilson’s words:
“We work with people who may have been away from aviation for 20 or 25 years, and now they have the desire to return. What we do here is help them refresh their knowledge, rebuild their confidence, and enjoy the flying they once loved, whether that means flying with family, carrying passengers, or going on cross-country trips. It’s about knocking the rust off and getting back into active aviation.”

The atmosphere was filled with passion: smiles confirmed the joy of reconnecting with aviation, and conversations flowed as freely as the energy in the room.
