A New Tradition Takes Flight at Aviator Zone
Flamping our Fly-In Camping trip is quickly becoming a favorite tradition at Aviator Zone. This year, we headed to Arcadia Airport (X06) for an unforgettable weekend of aviation and camaraderie.
After seeing the incredible turnout, our owner Felipe decided this will be a recurring event from now on, and we couldn’t agree more!
What is Flamping?
Flamping combines two passions: flying and camping. It’s about landing at a scenic airport, pitching a tent next to your aircraft, and enjoying the outdoors with fellow aviators. It’s a unique way to experience aviation beyond the cockpit and create lasting memories.
The Journey
We departed KTMB at 9:00 AM and headed toward Arcadia Airport (X06). As the day progressed, more pilots joined in, creating a steady stream of arrivals.
When each group landed, they unpacked their planes and began setting up tents. Once their camps were ready, everyone gathered in the common area to relax and enjoy the company of fellow aviators.
The evening was magical, movies projected under the stars, laughter around the barbecue, and plenty of hangar talk.
The next morning, we woke up early, fueled up as a group, and took off together for a short hop to La Belle Airport for breakfast. Sharing a meal as one big aviation family was the perfect way to wrap up the adventure. Afterward, we all flew back to KTMB, tired but happy, with memories that will last a lifetime.
Trip Highlights
- Scenic Flights: Beautiful flights into Arcadia and a morning hop to La Belle Airport for breakfast the next day.
- Community Fun: We watched movies on a projector under the stars, sang campfire songs, played catch, barbecued, and shared meals as a group.
- Impressive Attendance: A total of 14 planes, each carrying 2–3 people.
- Camping Setup: Everyone brought tents, sleeping bags, and air mattresses for the ultimate aviation camping experience.
- Special Guests: We loved seeing some of our students join the adventure, and of course, having the majority of our Aviator Zone staff there made it even more special.
This trip was more than just flying, it was about building friendships, sharing stories, and enjoying the freedom of aviation together.
