What’s Not Included

This is a part 141 program, students seeking to complete the training under part 61 must have at least 50 hours of Pilot In Command (PIC) time and 40 hrs of simulated or actual instrument time. FAR 61.64(c). The PIC and instrument time from Private Pilot training counts toward this requirement, we also offer time building if needed. We recommend completing the time building simultaneously to complete the course.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the training to become instrument rated?

- Training time varies depending on the student’s training frequency. We recommend at least 3 times a week or more to those looking to accomplish the training faster. Our schedule is yours, so if you want to finish earlier or take your time, it is up to you.

Am I going to be in a big classroom?

- No! Training is conducted one-on-one with a certified instructor. This allows you to go at your own pace without ever needing to ask questions in front of a large class

What certifications does Aviator Zone Academy hold?

- Aviator Zone Academy is a Part 61 and an FAA Part 141 Pilot School.

Do I get a certificate after completing the course?

- When it comes to flying, you have to reach proficiency set by the Federal Aviation Administration. If you meet the standards at 40 hours, you can proceed to take the exam and earn the certificate. Some students require more training than others and will not finish with 40 hours. At our school, we have students who complete around 45 hours with the check ride.

Do you offer financing?

- Our school accepts financing, but we don’t offer it ourselves. Flight Training Financing is expensive (higher interest) because the loans have no security (if you stop payments there is nothing for the bank to repose and resale). To find out more about our financing recommendation, click here.

Do I have to pay everything upfront?

- We don’t require that you pay anything in advance, except you must maintain a minimum balance of $500 on your account. If you do decide to pay in advance, you receive a discount on aircraft and instructor rates.

Do you have an enrollment fee?

- Yes, our enrollment fee is $79. This covers creating your student profile, processing your student pilot certificate, and helping you with the medical application.

Do I have to do the TSA Alien Flight Student Program application?

- This is only a requirement for permanent residents or those with visas. U.S. Citizens are exempt from the TSA Alien Flight Student Program.
