Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the training for Private Pilot?

Training time varies depending on the student’s training frequency. We recommend at least 3 times a week or more to those looking to accomplish the training faster. Our schedule is yours, so if you want to finish earlier or take your time, it is up to you.

Am I going to be in a big classroom?

No! Training is conducted one-on-one with a certified instructor. This allows you to go at your own pace without ever needing to ask questions in front of a large class.

What certifications does Aviator Zone Academy hold?

Aviator Zone Academy is a Part 61 and an FAA Part 141 Pilot School.

Do I get a certificate after completing 40 hrs of training?

When it comes to flying you have to reach proficiency set by the Federal Aviation Administration. If you meet the standards at 40 hours, then you can proceed to take the exam and earn the certificate. Some students require more training than others and will not finish with 40 hours. At our school, we have students who finish around 45 hours with the check ride.

Do you offer financing?

Our school accepts financing, but we don’t offer it ourselves. Flight Training Financing is expensive (higher interest) because the loans have no security (if you stop payments there is nothing for the bank to repose and resale). To find out more about our financing recommendation, click here.

Do I have to pay everything upfront?

We don’t require that you pay anything in advance, except you must maintain a minimum balance of $500 on your account. If you do decide to pay in advance, you receive a discount on aircraft and instructor rates.

Do you have an enrollment fee?

Yes, our enrollment fee is $99. This covers creating your student profile, processing your student pilot certificate, and helping you with the medical application.

Do I have to do the TSA Flight Training Security Program (FTSP) application?

This is only a requirement if you are not a U.S. Citizen. U.S. Citizens are exempt from the TSA Flight Training Security Program.

How long is the training to become instrument rated?

How long does it take to get a Commercial Pilot License?

The time it takes to earn your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) varies depending on your flight experience and how frequently you can train. If you already have over 220 flight hours and can train full-time, you might be able to complete your CPL in as little as one to two months. If you’re starting right after your instrument rating and can only train a few hours each week, the process could take up to a year. No matter your timeline, we’re here to support you every step of the way!

What aircraft will I fly during training?

At Aviator Zone Academy, you’ll train with a modern and well-maintained fleet that includes the Cessna 152 and 172, as well as the Diamond DA20 and DA40 for single-engine certifications. How many flight hours do I need for commercial training?

To earn your Commercial Pilot License, you must complete the aeronautical knowledge test and meet the flight experience requirements outlined by the FAA under Part 61 or Part 141. The required flight hours vary depending on the program you choose, but generally include a combination of solo and instructor-led flights to ensure you gain the experience you need for single- or multi-engine commercial certifications.

What’s the difference between Part 61 and Part 141 training programs?

The main difference between Part 61 and Part 141 training lies in the structure and flexibility of the program. Part 61 offers more scheduling flexibility, which can be helpful if you have other commitments. Part 141 programs follow a more structured syllabus, allowing you to complete training in fewer flight hours. Both paths are excellent, and we’re here to help you choose the one that best fits your needs and lifestyle!
